It’s called Garden of Words because the teacher in the story is a Japanese Literature teacher, and when she’s leaving the garden gazebo she recites the line of a famous poem to the student about 2 lovers and the one asking the other if s/he will see him/her again the next time it rains, blah blah. He recognizes the poem and knows how it finishes.
I agree that it’s a little unrealistic that–unless the High School is HUGE, it seems unlikely he wouldn’t have seen her at least once or twice in the hallway or in the lunch room or whatever.
The animation is very impressive, well-night photorealistic (rain sequences).
Actually I thought this was Makoto Shinkai’s most positive, uplifting film yet. It leaves the door open for hope in the future for these two, unlike most other Shinkai films like 5 Centimeters Per Second, etc.

Hahahahahahaha “what the fuck?!” I said the exact same thing when I heard Yuno’s voice in the Future Diary trailer.
